You do need a serial interface to flash his firmware (its all on his website). The GOTEK uses a USB device and has a 3 (or 2 (or none if you don't want it)) digit LCD display, so you can keep track of which disk image you have in the drive. However, a very kual guy decided to write his own firmware for this device that allows you to use it on the Amiga (currently).īasically, you get the device, flash his new firmware, put his "disk selector ADF" file and a bunch of other ADFs (Amiga disk image format) on there and swap it with your floppy. That's because the GOTEK is a PC floppy emulator, designed for stitching machines, keyboards etc. ![]() ![]() However, if you buy a GOTEK and plug it into your Amiga (for now, more on this later), it won't work. Those GOTEK floppy emulators sell pretty cheap on e-bay. So, why do I care? Mostly right now, cost. So, is this one better than the HxC? Nope. Basically, you put a bunch of disk images on a memory card, place that card in your floppy emulator and as far as your computer is concerned, it's loading off of the floppy drive. ![]() HxC comes to mind, as it's the same 3.5" DSDD emulator (although much more polished and SD instead of USB by saying "the same", I just mean they both emulate 3.5" DSDD disks). There are some great floppy emulators for older computers out there. Since it's likely to get more use for computers, I thought I'd put it here. OK, we were chatting about this guy in the multicart thread, but remowilliams suggested a new thread, which makes perfect sense.
